Gay (and then straight) media’s months-long obsession with pointing out Superman’s gaping, unavoidable gayness sure has provided a nice scapegoat if the film doesn’t succeed at the box office.
Crazy Nikki Finke is in a lather because Superman Returns only had the eighth-best opening Wednesday of all-time. Finke blames “the studio’s failure to stem the gay buzz,” citing this week’s butched-up TV spots. Bryan Singer, helpfully, came down from a tina binge long enough to call Superman Returns “probably the most heterosexual movie I’ve ever made. Really.”
Which - I mean, he has a point. X2 - with its coming-out-of-the-closet scenes and that weird flashback with Hugh Jackman in wet shorts - remains the gayest comic book movie of all time. But still…
Silly gays! Ruining the summer’s would-be #1 blockbuster with our childish obsession with big-packaged men in tight tights! How dare we! Hollywood just wants to recycle the most familiar franchise brands possible for the mild viewing pleasure of the broadest available audience and this is how we treat them?!
But seriously, come on, would they prefer we ignore their movie? Speaking of which…what time is The Devil Wears Prada playing?

isn’t the gayest comic book movie of all time actually “flash” with john wesley shipp, because the actor himself is actually gay and he ran really fast and was cute as hell and i loved him? i mean how’s wolverine supposed to jack me off? very carefully i guess.
