All’s well that ends Falwell

storyfalwell3ap.jpgWe’re really sad about this. No, seriously. Our condolences go out to all the Christians who needed Jerry Falwell’s leadership to channel their feelings of fear and inadequacy into a decades-long campaign for xenophobia, censorship and bigotry.

Whoever said that the truly evil tend to live long must not have factored morbid obesity into the equation. Question: Will the Moral Majority still be considered a majority without Rev. Falwell’s voluminous, jowly girth?

I don’t really believe in Hell, but if it does exist, I hope to meet Rev. Falwell there. And I’ll sip my Campari while he fills me in on the details of fucking his mother in the outhouse. And then we’ll jaunt over to Larry Flynt’s place for dessert…

With Falwell dead, the world has one less ignorant batshit crazy bigoted hateful whack job to worry about. But there will be others that will fill his shoes. The GLBT community’s fight for equal rights can learn a LOT from the civil rights movement that happened in American in the 1960’s. It’s sad that MLK didn’t produce a gay child…..we could use that sort of leadership with our civil rights push.

Would we knew the day would come when the Lord would call back its puffiest mouthpiece.

But be warned, possums- this guy founded a University that will keep the pumps of hatred and absurd social commentary alive and kicking- remember what happened with Reagan, these folks have a long shelf life to work down…
