I live about 20 miles from the Duggar compound and I’ve seen them on family outing a couple of times. Luckily Jim Bob is no longer a state legislator in AR. He made an attempt at Lt. Gov. in the last election cycle and was soundly defeated.

I couldn’t find any link confirming the oft-repeated assertion that they live tax-free as their own church.

Can you provide one?

The property tax records (Washington county, Arkansas) show they paid roughly $5000 in property taxes in 2006.

Now, I think they must have gotten some hefty assistance from either the TV people who filmed them or private donations to move from a 2250 sqft. home to one of about 7000 sqft.

I hope they realize that such a home is VERY expensive to maintain, even in Arkansas.

I wonder where the money comes from - supposedly Jim Bob is a real estate salesman, not the best vocation nowadays.
